  11. I try and look for turmeric wherever i go. Sounds funny but i am a crazy girl for turmeric. I just love it. I know when tasting the Ayamas pericik, there is turmeric in it. Without the ancient spice something like pericik cannot even have the aroma. Though it tastes bitter, it’s a real healing ingredient. I know it is very extensively in Indian dishes, and most Asian cooking. This is a yellow colored Asian herb found easily is much more than just a coloring or flavoring agent in cooking. It seems the magical ingredient curcumin present in turmeric is one main reason behind the magical health properties of turmeric. Ounce for ounce, few spices can compete with the health-promoting effects of turmeric. This golden yellow spice is showing up with increasing frequency in medical journals all over the world as researchers identify the many health attributes of turmeric.
A teaspoon of turmeric a day can keep cancers at bay, this is what I have read. The good old grandmother's practice of putting a pinch of turmeric to spice and spruce up curries has now proved to be also protecting the human body. Turmeric has anti-cancer properties and is known to protect the body from developing cancers. It is a natural antiseptic and antibacterial agent, useful in disinfecting cuts and burns. It as natural as a liver detoxifier and helps in fat metabolism and in weight management. Traditionally it has long been used in Chinese medicine as a treatment for depression. Because of its anti-inflammatory properties, it is a natural treatment for arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. When applied as a paste it speeds up wound healing and assists in remodeling of damaged skin. We Malaysians use it as an antiseptic in ointment form and even as turmeric water like cosmetic applied to give a golden glow to our complexion. Just sharing , please comment if you like and share more with me.
